Forza Motorsport 3 is an impressive driving / racing game that can be enjoyed anyone, whether they are new to driving games or are more experienced players.

Forza motorsport 3 - Limited Collectors Edition 2 members out of 2 found this review useful. Review Info Good Points: Graphics, design editor Bad Points: Loading times can sometimes be a little slow Forza 3 - Limited Collectors EditionTo start with, the LCE version has a great looking design to it. It shows off the game, the key ring and the USB memory stick in a very cool way.
The key ring is made of brushed steel which looks great and has the Forza 3 logo engraved onto it. The USB stick is made by SanDisk, so it’s not a cheap quality one, it’s just a shame it has a cheap looking plastic casing. Along with the key ring and USB memory stick you get some downloadable goodies. The LCE downloadable content consists of a premium dashboard theme, 5 VIP cars & VIP benefits on the in-game storefront and also online on Forzamotorsport.net The downloadable content which is available to anyone buying a NEW version of the game (LCE or standard edition), consists of 2 additional tracks (with various layouts available) & 10 more cars.
These cars do not go straight into your career garage though, they still need to be bought with in-game credits. One of the extra tracks, Benchmark, has a good sized open area to practice all your driving skills, similar to the popular ‘Ken Block’ videos. On to the actual game itself and straight away anyone who has played Foza Motorsport 2 will be able to see how much better looking it is. Everything seems to have been improved, cars are sharper, and the scenery around the track is much more realistic. The physics engine for the game has also been improved, and the developers have even taken the time to get things like tyre wall flex working for each car.
The interiors of all cars in the game have also been accurately reproduced.Forza 3 is very easy for anyone to pick up & play, and there are assists for novices to use such as autobraking & full racing line. When you are taking part in the racing events, if your car is not competitive enough or if it is over powered, then you can choose the auto upgrade option that will select the parts required to make your car suitable for the event you want to race in.
If you happen to make a mistake while racing there is a new rewind feature allows you to rewind the race, allowing you to take a different line into the corner or brake earlier etc, & try again. Of course, once you start to get used to the game, you can change which assists are enabled & this will increase your career winnings. The menu system in Forza 3 has also been changed for the better.
It has a clean white look with minimal menus which are easy to follow. The option for making vinyl designs has also been made easier to use. In Forza 2, most people wanting to do a design would start on a large car roof, usually a mini. In Forza 3, you are given a separate option with a grid layout.
This makes making vinyl groups much easier as you have lots of space to use & you don’t have to worry about parts of your design going off the side of the roof.
These groups can then be saved and put on a car later or you can put up for sale on your storefront. The storefront is another new addition to Forza 3. Here the whole online Forza community can check out the best painters and tuners and buy their designs & tunes. You can easily find tunes and browse designs. Some of these are free, but others will cost in-game credits. It may be a good idea to get a bit of career racing done to build up credits, because once you start browsing the storefront, you’ll soon be buying designs for your entire car collection. Finally it’s time to discuss the single player game, I won’t go into multiplayer, but people who enjoy their online racing will know what to expect. The first thing to note is the new season play. With Forza 2, it was just race after race to progress through every category.
Forza 3 introduces Season Play spread over a number of years, each season you’ll compete in one World Championship which take place on weekends then after each of those you’ll be asked to select a week based competition. If you want just want to pick your own races / events you can go the the events list section & choose from drag races, speedway, etc. There’s also still the usual leaderboards for every track and event that includes things like fastest lap and drifting, which is another newcomer to Forza 3. In Forza 3, drifting is an add-on accessed by pressing left on the D-pad, it’s fun sometimes to turn it on and just go wild. The drift points are awarded similar to kudos in the PGR series. (also by Turn10 Studios / Microsoft Games Studios)In summary, Forza 3 is such a huge step-up from the impressive Forza 2. It is a seasoned racer now and shows this in the professional look and feel. But it can still be a serious simulation game, and with all assists turned off you will soon find out if you get it badly wrong. But despite this it can still be picked up and played by the arcade type racer or those who aren’t big racing players and still be enjoyed. What Turn10 has done with Forza 3 is really impressive and this has raised the bar for future racing games.
